Harley Softail Transmission
2000 Harley Softail transmission fluid?
When changing out my fluids it looks as though the tranny oil was emulsified (creamy looking). On an air cooled engine how can water make its way to the tranny fluid? Washing or condensate accumulations I assume. I use synthetic AMSOIL 20-50wt for V-twins. Any insight for preventing this from occurring would be appreciated.
Thanks Janice. The bike has not been sitting long. I try to ride at least monthly if weather permits during the winter months. In leakage from washing I considered as well as condensate from the winter months. It can get quite cold. Thanks again.
It is condensate from that cold weather riding.
The transmission does not heat up like the engine, or even the primary.
Winter riding in New Hampshire - I had the same thing happen.
I flushed out the sludge and replaced the oil.
